Simon Tu obtained a bachelor’s degree in Design (Culture and Theory) from The Hong Kong Polytechnic University. Since his early days, he has been interested in how art is shaping and being shaped by culture and society, and attempts to observe by applying anthropological tools. After having finished an MA in Anthropology (Dean's List) at The Chinese University of Hong Kong (CUHK), he has obtained his second Master's degree, in Japanese Studies, at Sophia University, Tokyo.

He is now continuing his endeavor to investigate art in society in the field of Japanese Studies as a PhD student at CUHK.
